Also known as the Golden Temple, it is dedicated to Lord shiva, the presiding deity of the city. Varanasi is Said to be the point at which the first jyotirlinga, the fiery pillar of light by which shiva manifested has supremacy over others gods, broke through the Earth’s crust and flared towards the heavens. The Shivalinga installed in the temple remains the devotional focus of Varanasi.
Ganga Aarti
The Ganga Aarti is perhaps the most famous aarti in Varanasi. This evening ritual is a grand spectacle performed at various ghats, with Dashashwamedh Ghat being the most popular. As the sun sets, the ghats come alive with the sound of bells, drums, and conch shells. Priests dressed in saffron robes perform the aarti with chanting and synchronised movements, following a sequence of rituals like incense sticks, holding large brass lamps, chawars etc. The entire riverfront is illuminated by the glow of the lights reflecting off the waters of the Ganges.

In Varanasi the Holy Ganga flows from South to North direction making it unique itself. Besides River Ganga takes a very stunning half moon designed turn making it very beautiful. Sankat Mochan Mandir
Besides the Assi river stream, on the way of Durga Temple to Banaras Hindu Temple this well known temple of Lord Hanuman is situated. Lord Hanuman is also known as “Sankatmochan” the god who protects from the troubles. This temple is founded by Goswami Tulsidas. This temple is also known as “Monkey” temple, as lot of monkeys are there inside the premises.
Sarnath
It holds immense religious and historical importance for Buddhists as it’s where Buddha delivered his first sermon after enlightenment, marking the beginning of Buddhism and the formation of the first Buddhist Sangha. The Ashoka Pillar, erected by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE, is a prominent landmark in Sarnath, and the Lion Capital atop it is the basis for the national emblem of India.It is rich in archaeological findings, including the ruins of monasteries and stupas, which provide insights into the evolution of Buddhism and its heritage
Maa Annapurna Temple
Near the Kashi Vishwanath temple, there is a temple of Devi Annapurna, believed as the “Goddess of Food & Nourishment”. Lord Shiva himself appeared with his skull bowl and asked if they would be Annapurna for food, Devi Annapurna fed Lord Shiva with her own hands.
Kalbhairav Temple
It is the ancient temple of Varanasi. God KalBhairav is believed as “Kotwal Of Varanasi” , without his permission no one can stay in Kashi. It’s significance as the temple of the city’s protector, a fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva, believed to ensure the purity and well-being of Kashi. He is considered a fierce form of Lord Shiva, known to destroy arrogance and maintain cosmic balance. It protects from negativity, evil spirits, and harmful energies. According to legend, this form of Lord Shiva He protects his devotees from from enemies like greed, anger and lust & is beyond ‘time’ and ‘death”.
Tulsi Manas Temple
Constructed by family of Varanasi, this modern temple is dedicated to Lord Rama. It is situated at the place Where Tulisdas, the great medieval seer, lived and wrote the epic “Shri Ramcharitmanas”, which narrates the life of Lord Rama, the hero of the Ramayana. Verses from Tulidas’s epic are inscribed on the walls. It is just nearby to Durga Temple.
